Strangers on this Earth – A Poem

Hiker - strangers on this earth

We are strangers on this earth
Pilgrims on a journey
Though we face testing and trials
We will one day reach our heavenly home
Where our Heavenly Father reigns.

We are strangers on this earth
Visitors just passing through
Our time is coming to an end
Like the closing of a chapter in the Book of Life
That our Heavenly Father maintains.

We are strangers on this earth
Our journey is long and full of strife
We may get discouraged along the way
But we can always call on our Heavenly Father
And He will guide us home someday.

We are strangers on this earth
Troubled by problems life throws our way
But God knows our worries and our fears
He hears our sorrows and sees our tears
But He’ll drive them all away
When He brings us home.

We are strangers on this earth
But we don’t have to travel alone
God has provided us with a Saviour
The Lord Jesus Christ
The Way, the Truth, and the Life
Who prepares a place for us
And who will lead us to our heavenly home.

The above poem is based on the following Bible verse: “All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them” (Hebrews 11:13-16, NIV).

This Bible passage gives me hope that one day we will leave this earth and the pain and suffering behind, and be guided to our heavenly home where there will be no more tears, pain, or sorrow. I believe that day will be coming very soon.
